An honest hipages review from a tradie's point of view: what memberships cost, how leads and credits work, the contract terms, and how it compares with owning your own website and leads. Every fact about hipages links to hipages' own pages or the ACCC.

Full disclosure: we sell a website and lead system for tradies, so we're not neutral. That's why every claim about hipages below links to hipages' own website or the ACCC, and why we say plainly where hipages is the better choice. Prices and terms were checked on 8 October 2026; platforms change them, so always check hipages' current pages before you sign.

What is hipages?

hipages is an Australian marketplace where homeowners post a job and tradies pay a monthly membership to receive and accept those job leads. The ACCC describes it as an ASX-listed Australian online sales lead generation platform connecting consumers and tradespeople in home improvement (source). It's one of the best-known names in the space: "hipages" is searched about 33,000 times a month in Australia (Google Ads keyword data, October 2026).

How much does hipages cost for tradies?

hipages sells memberships that come with a monthly allowance of credits. You spend credits to accept leads. These are the plans hipages publishes (source):

PlanPriceCredits per monthAlso listed
Starter$139 + GST a month155Appears in 1 postcode
Advanced$249 + GST a month310Appears in 3 postcodes, 1 month credit rollover
Premium$449 + GST a month5952 months credit rollover

Source: hipages, Membership Costs, checked 8 October 2026. hipages also lists a Platinum tier; its price wasn't shown on the page.

The catch is that a credit isn't a fixed price per lead. hipages says the number of credits a lead needs depends on things like your location, the size of the job and demand (source). So the real question isn't "what does the plan cost?" but "how many jobs do I actually win from it?". Track that for a few months and you'll know whether it pays.

hipages also offers a 5% discount when you pay a new 12-month subscription upfront (source).

How hipages leads work

  • You pay to accept a lead, not to win the job. Accepting a lead gives you the chance to contact the customer and quote.
  • Up to 3 businesses can accept each lead. hipages states that every lead is capped at 3 businesses (source). Fewer than open marketplaces, but you're still usually quoting against others.
  • Speed matters. When three tradies get the same job, the one who replies first and clearest often wins it. That's true on any platform, and on your own website too.

Contract terms and cancelling

This is the part tradies most often complain about in reviews, so read it before you sign up. According to hipages (source):

  • Subscriptions start on a 6-month introductory term and then automatically renew on a 12-month term. hipages says it will tell you before the renewal.
  • You can cancel during the 7-day cooling-off period, provided you haven't accepted any leads. Outside that, hipages asks you to contact support.
  • You can pause your membership: 14 to 31 days once on the introductory term, up to 62 days in total on the 12-month term. You can't accept leads while paused.

Some background: in May 2023 the ACCC announced that hipages had given a court-enforceable undertaking after admitting it likely breached the Australian Consumer Law between 2018 and 2022 by not adequately disclosing automatic renewal and early termination fee terms. hipages committed to clearly disclose its renewal and cancellation policies (source). In the same release the ACCC said hipages had more than 34,000 subscribers paying between $25 and $999 a month.

hipages pros and cons

Where hipages helps

  • Work without doing your own marketing. Homeowners already know the brand, and leads arrive in the app.
  • Fewer competitors per lead than open job boards, with a cap of 3 businesses.
  • Job management tools are included in memberships, according to hipages (source).
  • Useful for filling quiet weeks or getting started in a new area while your own name builds up.

Where it falls short

  • You pay whether or not you win. Credits go on accepting leads, and the credits per lead change with location, job size and demand.
  • Term commitments. A 6-month introductory term that rolls into 12 months doesn't suit everyone.
  • The relationship is shared. The customer found the platform first. Your profile and reviews there help you on hipages, not on Google.
  • You're competing on price and speed with up to two other businesses on every job.

Who hipages suits, and who it doesn't

It can suit you if you're new, building a customer base in a new area, have spare capacity most weeks, and are quick at replying and quoting. It's a weaker fit if you're already busy from referrals, mostly do bigger jobs where you'd rather not quote against others, or you'd rather spend the same money building something you own.

The alternative: build your own lead source

A website on its own isn't enough. The difference is what happens after someone finds you. Here's what we set up for tradies:

  • A website that gets found for your services and the suburbs you work in, with tap-to-call on every page.
  • A Google Business Profile that keeps collecting reviews, where locals look first.
  • Missed call text back: when you can't pick up, the caller gets a text from your business number within seconds, so they don't ring the next tradie.
  • An instant reply to every website enquiry, so the customer knows you've got it.
  • Your customer list in your own app, with one-click campaigns for repeat work and referrals.

It costs A$149/month, or A$1,490/year (2 months free). No per-lead fees. Your enquiries come only to you.

Should you quit hipages?

Not necessarily. Plenty of tradies keep a platform membership while they build their own channel. Track where every job comes from for three months: hipages, Google, referrals, your website. Keep what pays for itself. We won't promise your own website replaces a platform in a month; local search takes time. But every customer who finds you directly is yours, and you don't pay again to talk to them next time.
